Malakai Mack Thompson was born on December 24, 2025, and passed peacefully in his parents’ arms on December 30, 2025. Though his time on this earth was brief, his life was filled with profound meaning, love, and strength beyond measure.

Affectionately nicknamed “Mighty Mack” by his devoted NICU team, Malakai quickly became known for his resilient strength and fighter spirit. From the very beginning, he fought bravely, touching the hearts of all who cared for him and reminding everyone around him of the power of perseverance and hope.

Malakai was deeply loved and cherished every moment of his life. He will forever be remembered for the light he brought into the world, the love he inspired, and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of his family, caregivers, and all who were blessed to know him.

Malakai is survived by his loving parents, Jonathan Cory Thompson and Sydnee Camille “Cammi” Shaffett-Thompson; his brother, Jonathan Cooper Thompson (age 10); his sister, Grayson Ellis Thompson (age 4); and his grandparents, Ted Mack Thompson, Lanette Angele Thompson, and Erin Fields Shaffett. He is also survived by his godmother, Victoria Peckham, and godfather, Quinton Myer; his aunt, Dawn Shaffett Kolodi; his uncles, Blaine Thompson and Casey Thompson; his great grandmother Sybil Laverne Angelle; his honorary aunts Amanda Patin and Sarah Diodene; his honorary uncle Tristan Israel; along with several great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.

He will be reunited in Heaven with his grandfather, Sidney James Shaffett; his aunt Amanda Jordan Fields; his great aunt, Julia Bariola Fields; his great grandparents, Thomas Henry Fields Jr., Donna Comeaux Fields, Marshall Johnny Angelle, Doris George Angele, Ernest Walton Angele; and his brother, Graham Parker.

A memorial ceremony honoring Malakai’s life will be held on January 10, 2026, at Abundant Life Church in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. The family kindly asks that attendees wear blue in celebration and loving memory of Malakai.

Though he was held for only a short time, Malakai will be carried in the hearts of his loved ones forever. His legacy is one of courage, resilience, and unconditional love.
