Mamie Spence Sims

Mamie Lenoria Spence Sims, 64, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2025. Born on August 11, 1961, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mamie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and joy. She embraced each day with a spirit of adventure and a heart full of kindness, always striving to live life to the fullest. She cherished her hobbies and found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, sharing that joy with family and friends.

 Mamie is survived by her two daughters, Jamie Leigh Sims (Raymond Ackerman) of Zachary, Louisiana, and Sarah Johnette Sims Olano (Dale) of Denham Springs, Louisiana; siblings Thomas Allen and Sharon Spence of Locust Grove, Georgia; Luther Ray and Stacie Spence of Milner, Georgia; and Ronnie Dean Spence of Denham Springs, Louisiana. She also leaves behind five grandsons-Adler and Dylan Sims, Jacob Sims, Braxton Olano, and Brantley Seal —and two granddaughters, Brooklynn Olano and Jadyn Sims, all of Denham Springs. Mamie is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

 She was preceded in death by her dearly loved husband, James Sims; her parents, Homer Luther Spence and Geraldine Basco Spence of Denham Springs; her beloved son, Samuel Keith Sims of Denham Springs; her sister-in-law, Jill Elkins Spence; and a niece and nephew, also of Denham Springs. 

A memorial celebration of life will be held in January 2026; the date is to be announced.

 Mamie's warmth, generosity, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
