The world became a little less bright on July 13, 2025, but heaven gained a wonderful soul with the passing of Margaret “Marg” Bartholomew Trest from this earth. Margaret was born on August 30, 1933, and moved to Denham Springs in middle school from Ponchatoula. She met and fell in love with a skinny guy from Mississippi, nicknamed “Wimpy”, in high school, and told him their relationship could not work since he didn’t know how to dance. He learned how to dance – she taught him - and they danced together for 51 years.
Margaret had the biggest love for her family and friends, was a devoted wife, mother, and grand and great grandmother, and a loyal friend to many. She lovingly served her church and could not say no when asked. The majority of her career was spent in the banking industry, where she made many wonderful friends and cherished memories. She spent many years traveling the world with her beloved high school girlfriends, new friends, and family. She loved attending festivals, shopping, and antiquing, and was the maker of chocolate pies and the best deviled eggs. Margaret was also an avid fan of everything LSU, and you had better be a sports fan if you visited her during a ball game.
Margaret is preceded in death by her loving husband, A.D. “Wimpy” Trest, her father, Archie Bartholomew, mother, Hilda Murphy Sullivan, step-father, Pearly Sullivan, sister, Geraldine Walters, and brother, Ed Bartholomew.
She leaves behind her children, Judy Trest Wingate, Teri Trest Perdew, and Stacey Trest, grandchildren, Lee Sutton, Dawson Trest, and Laine Trest Aucoin, great-grandsons, Remington Sutton and Houston Sutton. She is remembered lovingly by her son-in-law, Paul Perdew, daughter-in-law, Nicole Trest, granddaughter-in-law, Katie Sutton, grandson-in-law, Bryce Aucoin, brother-in-law, Ray Walters, her nieces and nephews, and friend and caregiver, Kathy Mitchell.
Serving as pallbearers are Lee Sutton, Dawson Trest, Remington Sutton, Carey Wilson, Bryan Tadlock and Lindsey Richard. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Perdew, Ray Walters, and Tony Tadlock.
A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the service to follow at 12:00 p.m. and burial at Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery.
