Marilyn Kay Jones, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, one day before her 84th birthday.
Born on May 30, 1942, in Alva, Oklahoma, Marilyn was a graduate of Denham Springs High School and continued her education at LSU. She was known for her unwavering sense of humor and kindness. She enjoyed arts and crafts, spending quality time with her grandkids and everything LSU! Her weekends were filled with football and she was an animal lover; her sweet cat Lulu was her constant and faithful companion.
She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Wright and husband Mark; her sons, Todd Jones and wife Sheiveh, and Jeffrey Jones and wife Meredith; grandchildren, Connor Wright, Ashkon Jones, Ian Wright, Koosha Jones, Hayden Wright, and Emmy Wright; her sister, Carolyn Varnado; her brother, Ronald Cunningham; her nieces, Heather Laxton, Misty Huffman, and Vicki McGovern; her nephews, Chad Varnado, Lance Jones, Barry Jones, Ryan Marnette, and Patrick Jones.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Jones; and her parents, D.V. Cunningham and Alice Cunningham.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Denham Springs, on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 12:00 PM. The graveside service and burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, in Denham Springs.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Wags to Whiskers Animal Rescue in Porter, Texas.
Marilyn's love, strength, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
