Mary Katherine, known as Kathy to all who loved her, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at the age of 78. Kathy was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith, serving as a eucharistic minister for many years at her beloved church, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Denham Springs, Louisiana. First and foremost, she loved her family including her husband, her children, their spouses, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kathy loved her work as a pharmacy technician, enjoyed gardening, watching her flowers bloom, watching baseball and football (especially LSU and the Astros) and taking care of her sweet dog, Isabella.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and Elaine Ware Fuentes, brother-in-law Pat Patterson, sister-in-law Allie Mae Fuentes, and nephews Christopher Fuentes and Robbie Fuentes.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Samuel Joseph Caruso, Jr.; her siblings, Barbera “Bobbie” Patterson, Doug Fuentes Sr. (Mary), Ron Fuentes (Marlane), Mike Fuentes (Melanee), Greg Fuentes (Cindy), Carolyn “Kit” Fuentes (Howard); her three sons, Anthony “Todd” Caruso (Lorin), Jason Caruso (Shannon), and Clinton Caruso (Amy); eight grandchildren, Kristian Caruso Futrell (Ashton), Elise Caruso, Trevor Caruso, Jordan Caruso (Brooke), Kaleigh Caruso Comeaux (Austin), Nicolas Caruso, Carson Walker, and Avery Walker; and three beautiful great-granddaughters, Lynn Flora Caruso, Rustyn Lewie Comeaux, and Renleigh June Comeaux. Kathy is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 21st at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs with visitation from 10:00-12:00. We will pray the rosary beginning at noon with the mass of Christian burial to follow at 12:30 pm. Burial will be at Greenoaks Memorial Park located at 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge.
Pallbearers are: Mike Fuentes, Greg Fuentes, Jordan Caruso, Trevor Caruso, Kenny Caruso and Chris Caruso. Honorary pallbearers: Doug Fuentes, Ron Fuentes and Benny “Buck” Caruso.
A reception to celebrate the life of Kathy Caruso will be held immediately following the burial at the home of Todd and Lorin Caruso at 8670 Doug Wax Lane, Denham Springs.
