Mary Nell Methvien Scardina Everett

Mary Nell Methvien Scardina Everett (Maw-Maw) was born on July 10, 1941 at Lallie Kemp Memorial Hospital in Independence, Louisiana. She attended Denham Springs High from 1955-1959 and then SLU from 1959-1960. Mary worked as a certified medical transcriptionist from 1962 to 1988, except for 4 ½ years as a stenographer with the LA Department of Wildlife & Fisheries. In her early adult years, she enjoyed family camping, bowling, tennis, running 1k and 5k races, and fitness workout programs. In later years, Mary loved spending her time sewing, cross stitching, crocheting, and engaging in various other crafts. She enjoyed traveling, cross word and jigsaw puzzles, reading books and the newspaper, taking and collecting photographs, and last but not least – most importantly – her Bible. Mary also prided herself in – giving and receiving – Christian hugs and kisses.

She is survived by son Brent Anthony (Tony) Scardina, daughter-in-law Amy Scardina, grand-daughters Kira Nicole Scardina, Heidi Rene Brady, Alexandra Michelle Scardina, Samantha Perez-Tomas (Teodoro Perez-Tomas), Anita Guinter, and Mary Margaret Scardina “Cookie” (Chase Boquet), grand-son Nicholas William Scardina (Mr. Nick – Mr. Boo), great-grandsons Felipe Nicholas Perez-Scardina, Issac Miguel Perez-Tomas, Bentley Luke Scardina, and numerous grand-friends, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Chester R. Methvien and Mary Eliza Hare Whiddon Ashmore Methvien, husband Nicholas Scardina Jr., husband Clarence Edward Everett, Sr., son Bodie Nicholas Scardina, daughter Valerie Agnes Scardina Brady, sisters Annie Marrie Methvien Walker, Betty Jewel Methvien Forbes, Edith Whiddon Meadows White, and Mae Belle Ashmore Rohner, brothers Issac Whiddon, George “Stugs” Whiddon, Billy Jay Ashmore, Robert Earl Ashmore, Thomas Methvien, and Chester Elmore Methvien, Sr.

There will be a visitation at Celebration Church (28975 S. Satsuma Rd, Livingston, LA 70754) on Thursday, July 18 th from 6 to 8 pm and a second visitation on Friday, July 19 th from 9 to 11 am with a service starting at 11am.
