Mercedes Acosta

Mercedes Acosta “Nina”, 93 passed away on September 8, 2025. She was born on February 17, 1932 in Guines, Havana, Cuba to Isabel and Pedro Vargas. She enjoyed going for walks, feeding birds, and being with her family, and loved her coffee.

Nina is survived by her daughter, Rebeca Garcia; sons, Ralph Garcia, and Pedro Garcia; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Carlos “Macho” Vargas; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Joel Garcia; sisters, Isabel Gacia and Tania O’Halloran; brother, Eddie Vargas.

Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, 1720 S. Range Ave. Denham Springs, LA on September 19, 2025 from 9:00 AM until a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
