Patsy Ruth Channell

Patsy Ruth Channell was born April 3, 1936 to William and Erna (Gerhardt) Lauw and passed away July 14, 2025 at the age of 89. Patsy was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and fiercely loyal to all she loved. Patsy (known to many as Pat) married her husband James Channell in 1953 when she was only 17 years old. James and Pat had two daughters, Pamela and Sherry. When Patsy and James had been married for 12 years, James gave his heart to the Lord and surrendered into full-time ministry. Patsy proudly followed her husband in starting 3 churches building them from the ground up. Patsy’s unmatched work ethic was many times put to use throughout their ministry, from running a bus route to bring little children to church to working outside the home for extra income. One of her proudest achievements was her work at the hospital working with the doctors in a job that normally required an RN degree. She had worked her way up to this job and when she retired she was replaced with an employee with a degree. After her retirement she began volunteering with the Pink Ladies Auxiliary. Patsy also enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and most of all growing beautiful flowers. In 2019 James and Pat made the decision to move from Odessa, Texas, their home of 45 years to Livingston, Louisiana to be near their youngest daughter where they were introduced to yet another church family who grew to love them and were deeply loved in return.

Patsy is survived by her daughters Pamela Brown and husband Bob, Sherry Watts and husband Aldrich; granddaughters Jessica Kerr (Matt), Rachel Lindsey (Caleb), Valon Nix (Phillip) and Hannah Lindsey (Luke). 15 Great grandchildren: Tucker, Tatum, Allison, Dalton, Noah, Savannah, Bristol, Riley, Reagan, Parker, Charley, Ezekiel, Jacob, Mac and Blake.

She is proceeded in death by her husband James E. Channell, her parents, a brother, James Lauw, a sister, Erma Devers and a granddaughter Tracy Johnson.

Patsy’s homegoing will be celebrated on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Fundamental Baptist Church (24240 South Frost Rd, Livingston, LA 70754). Visitation will be 9:00am to 11:00am with the service beginning at 11:00am.
