Paula Sontoyo
Johns
Jun 22, 1942 — Sep 6, 2026
Denham Springs, Louisiana
Paula Sontoyo Johns, 84, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2026. Paula was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Paula shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, William Douglas Johns, before his passing. Together, they built a life centered around their family, creating memories that would remain cherished by their children, grandchildren, and loved ones for generations to come.
Paula found great joy in her family and cherished the time she spent with them throughout her life. When her children were young, she loved traveling every weekend to their ball tournaments and cheering them on from the stands. As the years went by, she found just as much happiness in spoiling her grandchildren and spending time with her growing family.
Paula loved to shop, especially when it came to Christmas. She was an avid thrifter and could often be found “garage sale’in,” always on the lookout for a good bargain or something special. She also enjoyed doing word-search puzzles and could spend hours working through them. She treasured any opportunity to spend time with her boys watching baseball and football, and she enjoyed watching true-crime shows and game shows with her daughter. Above all, Paula loved her family deeply and unconditionally.
The only thing Paula loved more than her family was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith was an important part of her life and a source of strength throughout her journey.
Paula was preceded in death by her husband, William Douglas Johns; her son, Michael Shannon Johns; her parents, Jose and Concepcion Sontoyo; sister, Margaret Sontoyo; and her brother, Francisco “Frank” Sontoyo.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and David Ellis; sons, Joseph Johns and David Johns; grandchildren, Justina Conner, Erin Prince, Monica Miller, J.P. Ellis, Carlie Ellis, and Olivia Ellis; several great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Carlota and Jim Goodman; and brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Laura Sontoyo.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Paula’s dear friend and caregiver, Tammy Test; her sister-in-law, Joan Ferrington; Chaplain Kin Ellis; and all of the staff at Harvest Manor Nursing Home, who truly loved and cared for “Ms. P” throughout her final years and especially during her final days. Their kindness, compassion, and dedication meant so much to Paula and her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m., followed by the service at 1:00 p.m.
Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the home of her daughter, Tiffany Ellis, for fellowship and remembrance. All who knew and loved Paula are welcome to join the family in celebrating her life.
