Rosalie Collette Sweet was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on June 5, 2025. She passed away peacefully in Baton Rouge, LA, at the age of 92, surrounded by her family. Rosalie was born February 27, 1933, in Bogalusa, LA to Joe Collette and Annie Kramer Collette. Upon graduation from Bogalusa High School, she completed nursing school at Hotel Dieu Nursing School in New Orleans, LA. Rosalie married Reed Sweet of Chicago, IL on December 1, 1957. They were married until his death on September 9, 1986. Rosalie was a devout Catholic who faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister and choir member at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church in Baton Rouge. At the time of her passing, she was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the America. As the cherished matriarch of her family, Rosalie was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother affectionately known as “Grandmother” by all who met her. She found great joy in cooking for her family and caring for her plants. A passionate sports enthusiast, Rosalie was an avid fan of both college and professional football. She rarely missed a chance to cheer on her beloved LSU Tigers.

In addition to her husband, Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Annette Collette; brother, Rodney Colletti and oldest son, Steven Mark Sweet.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Michael Sweet (Johnna) of Denton, TX; Reeda Sweet of Baton Rouge, LA and Mel Sweet (Vickie) of Denham Springs, LA. Rosalie is also survived by seven grandchildren: Austin Sweet (Roberta), Rebekah Sweet, William Sweet (Laura), Adam Sweet, Eric Sweet, Raegan O’Neal (Brent) and Jackson Sweet along with eight great-grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her cherished niece, Collette Lambert, and her family of Gonzales, LA. Also, she is survived by her sister, Margaret Collette of Bogalusa, LA.

Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs, LA on Tuesday, June 10, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. The recitation of the Rosary will follow from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the Mass of Christian Burial immediately following. Internment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
