Ruth Elaine Stuart

Ruth ‘Elaine’ Stuart, known to all as Elaine, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family following a brief battle with cancer at the age of 64.

Elaine was a caring wife and mother who always put others first. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, fishing, and camping with her husband and close friends, but she loved being a MawMaw more than anything.

Elaine was proud of her work and took great pride in being someone others could depend on. Her big heart, strong work ethic, and selfless nature touched the lives of many.

Elaine leaves behind by her beloved husband, James Stuart, whom she married in 1988; her three children, Brittany Covington, Garrett Bordelon (Stephanie) and Nicole Puffer (Ryan); and her six grandchildren, Brady Covington, Chloe Covington, Breyden Puffer, Paisley Puffer, Addison Puffer, and Rhett Bordelon. As well as her aunt and life-long best friend, Susie Wheat; her dear friend, Dr. Victor Alexander; many beloved siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family members, coworkers and friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents.

Her family will forever be blessed by her love, cherished memories, and special moments they shared with her. Her generosity, strength, and unconditional love for her family will live on through the lives of her husband, children and grandchildren. We will miss you MawMaw.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and the staff at The Hospice of Baton Rouge Butterfly Wing for their patience, compassion, and loving care while guiding her and her family through this incredibly difficult time.

Elaine was loved profoundly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
