Ryan Marshall Heflin Schexnayder, age 40, passed away unexpectedly while returning home to Louisiana, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and a life that will be remembered for his humor, sensitivity, strength, and thoughful spirit. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Ryan spent much of his life in Louisiana before moving to Nevada. He was a graduate of Tara High School and later attended West Virginia University. Ryan was a man of many dimensions. He possessed both physical strength and a deeply sensitive and introspective nature. A gifted writer, he loved expressing himself through poetry and sharing his words with those closest to him. He was a deep thinker with a philosophical mind and possessed a genuine appreciation for the art of meaningful conversation. He could spend hours exploring an idea, sharing his perspective, or simply enjoying the connection that comes from a good conversation. At the same time, Ryan loved to laugh and loved making others laugh. He was quick with a joke and often found a way to bring humor into a room. Those who knew him will remember that wonderful contrast in his personality - the man who could make you laugh one moment and engage you in a thoughful conversation about life the next moment. Ryan was also passionate about fitness and bodybuilding. His dedication and discipline led him to compete in numerous bodybuilding competitions, where he proudly earned several victories and titles. Beyond the gym, he found peace outdoors. He loved hiking, spending time in nature, and appreciating the beauty and quiet of the world around him.

Of all the things that mattered to Ryan, however, nothing was more important than his family. His greatest love and greatest source of pride was his son, Cayson. Ryan loved his family deeply, and the bond he shared with those closest to him will remain an enduring part of his memory.

Ryan was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Herbert Miller; great-grandmother, Louise Miller; maternal grandfather, Dudley Babin; paternal grandfather, Jimmy Holliday;and paternal grandmothers, Bonnie Heflin Holliday and Jacquelynn “Jackie” Sumerford Schexnayder; and best friend and cousin, Tyler John Rogers.

He is survived by his beloved son, Cayson; his mother, Jennie O'Neal Schexnayder; his fathers, Tommy Heflin and Douglas Dow Schexnayder; his step-mother, Christine Linarello Schexnayder; maternal grandmother, Barbara Jean Babin; paternal grandfather, Norbert Francis Schexnayder, Jr.; brothers, Logan Douglas Schexnayder, Tristan Drake Schexnayder, and Dillon Heflin; sister, Jordan Nicole Schexnayder (EJ White); uncle John Schexnayder (Cindy); aunts Beth Schexnayder Hurst (Carlos), Kendall Heflin Holderith (Tom), and Kristen Heflin McCoy (Jason); cousins, Lia Schexnayder, John Ruben Schexnayder, Hunter Hurst, Colt Hurst, Molly McCoy, and Conner McCoy; nephew Preston John White; niece, Ellie Katherine White as well as extended family and friends who loved him and will carry his memory with them.

Ryan's life ended far too soon, but the measure of a life is not found only in its length. It is found in the people we love, the laughter we leave behind, the words we share, the conversations that stay with others, and the memories that continue long after we are gone. Those who loved Ryan will remember his strength and sensitivity, his humor and intellect, his poetry and philosophical nature, his appreciation for the outdoors, and above all, the love he carried for his family and his son. Ryan will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who loved him.

A memorial service honoring Ryan's life will be held at a later date at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Service arrangements will be announced once finalized.

“And God shall wipe away all the tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.” - Revelation 21:4
