Shirley Yvonne Hood DeLaune

Shirley Yvonne Hood DeLaune, 90 years old, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on June 2, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 12, 1936 to Eunice Mae Smith Hood and Deward Pendleton Hood in Denham Springs, Louisiana.

Shirley’s greatest joy in life was her family, whom she loved with all her heart. She treasured every moment spent with her children and loved ones, always putting their needs before her own. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed working puzzles and getting lost in a good book. Shirley was known for her sense of humor and the little things that made her uniquely her—she was almost always running late and never passed up an opportunity for a good nap. Above all else, she was the best momma and “GG”, offering endless love, guidance, and support to her family. Her warmth, laughter, and unwavering devotion will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew and loved her.

Shirley is survived by her children, Jan DeLaune Allen and husband, George, and Howard DeLaune and wife, Trudy; grandchildren, Desiree DeLaune, Ben DeLaune and wife, Jordan, Sarah DeLaune, Emily DeLaune and Chase Allen; great grandchildren, Dakota Carrier, Ethan Carrier, Presley DeLaune, Scarlet Smith, Bradley McClure and Maeve DeLaune; brother, Michael Hood; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Shirley is preceded in death by her grandson, Adam Carrier; granddaughter, Christi Carrier; parents, Deward and Eunice Hood; sister, Patsy Wilkinson; and brother, Donald Hood.

The family would like to thank Southern Grace Hospice for the wonderful care you gave and compassion shown to our mother.
