Shirley Darlene Freeman

Shirley Barnes Freeman, of Denham Springs, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Golden Age Nursing Home at 85 years old. Shirley was born on January 6, 1940, in Reeds Springs, Missouri to Delbert and Cora Poor Barnes. She was a devoted homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Shirley was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Denham Springs, Louisiana.

On October 20,1957, she wed Donald R. Freeman in Carson City, Nevada. They were married for 66 years.

Shirley is survived by one daughter, Laveta F. Browning (John) of Frankfort, Kentucky; two sons, Randall L. Freeman of Dallas, Texas, and Kurt L. Freeman (Kathleen) of Denham Springs, Louisiana; two granddaughters, Emily B. Oseguera (Javier) and Erin E. Browning of Frankfort, Kentucky; grandson, Tyler Freeman (Taeler) of Denham Springs, Louisiana; and eight great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two very special grandparents, Noah and Georgia Poor; brother, Dale Barnes; two sisters, Delores Combs and Rosella Combs; and grandson, Traynor Freeman.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 10: 00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Seale Funeral Home, 1720 S. Range Ave. in Denham Springs, Louisiana followed by burial at Louisiana National Cemetery 303 W Mt Pleasant Rd in Zachary, Louisiana.
