Staff Sergeant Randy Oliphant

Randy survived Vietnam, a 44-year marriage, six kids, thirteen grandkids, and four great-grandkids. In the end, it wasn't any of them that got him. He fought his last fight July 9, 2026.

Randy spent almost a decade proving that Marines are the first to fight and the last to leave. After being honorably discharged, he spent the rest of his life convinced that civilian life was far too quiet-a problem he personally corrected by thoroughly enjoying giving anyone and everyone a hard time. If Randy wasn't making fun of you, correcting you, or questioning your life choices, it simply meant he hadn't noticed you yet.

He possessed an insatiable love for traveling, always seeking out the next destination, the next horizon, and a whole new group of unsuspecting locals to argue with.

He leaves behind a family that loved him dearly, a legacy of laughter, and a world that is suddenly a lot quieter. In lieu of tears, please share your best stories of Randy giving you a hard time, and raise a drink in his memory.

He is survived by his 6 Children; Ben Oliphant (Rebecca), Adam Oliphant, Chad Oliphant (Whitney), Desiree Spencer (Eric), Melody Oliphant (John), Raquel McDavid (Ricky). Partner Carol Schneider. 13 Grandchildren; William Oliphant, Ainslea Greenwood (Trenton), Gavin Oliphant (Donalyn), Garrett Oliphant, Grayson Oliphant, Caden Klee, Adalyn Oliphant, Aiden Oliphant, Alyssa Havard, Tyler Sims, Kinsely Sims, Trae McDavid, Bo McDavid. 4 Great-Grandchildren; Marlow Jayde Havard Surmeier, Luellea Oliphant, Colton Greenwood, Tucker Greenwood. 5 Siblings; Ricky Oliphant, Clydia Oliphant, Cherye McGowen, Cyndy Miller, Mickey Mirback and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his wife Terry Oliphant, parents; Irene and Homer Oliphant, grandson Joseph Oliphant, and brother Rodney Oliphant (his beloved pugs Beaux, Gus, and Gracie).
