Surrounded by love, Susan Evelie Valentine Ricaud of Greenwell Springs, LA, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the age of 73. A proud graduate of Broadmoor High School’s Class of 1970, Susan went on to serve more than 30 years as a Minute Clerk for both Baton Rouge Family and Juvenile Court, retiring in 2001 after building lifelong friendships and cherished memories. A devout Catholic, she was a parishioner of St. Louis King of France and St. Thomas More Catholic Church, and a dedicated member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Francis of Assisi Court #1915. Susan will be remembered for her charismatic spirit, quick wit, and her gift for storytelling through humorous songs, limericks, and poems. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She left a void in our hearts but we find comfort in knowing she is now made whole in her eternal life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward & Rita Brignac Valentine; father and mother-in-law, John Francis & Muriel Williams Ricaud; brother, Charles Ray Valentine; sister-in-law, Mary Jo “Cookie” Valentine; and granddaughter, Reese Lynn Jarreau.
She is survived in death by her devoted husband, John Francis “Buddy” Ricaud Jr; son, John Francis “Trey” Ricaud III (Alison); daughter, Amy Nicole Jarreau (Brian); grandsons, Gavin and Luke Jarreau; brother, Stephen Frank Valentine; sister, Nancy Valentine Tate (Donald); along with numerous nieces andnephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation Friday, February 6th from 5-8 PM at Seale Funeral Home located at 1720 S. Range Ave, Denham Springs, LA 70726. The celebration of her life will continue Saturday, February 7th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church located at 11441 Goodwood Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, with visitation from 9-11 AM followed by Catholic Mass of Christian burial at Seale’s Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ryan Valentine, Ross Valentine, Michael Mayeux, Danny Ricaud, Drew Ricaud, Anthony Feduccia, Keith Mayeux and Bryan Broussard.
