Terry Wayne Bankston

Our wonderful, protective, clever, strong and fun-loving husband and father, Terry Wayne Bankston, was called home to Heaven on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the age of 69. Terry was born on December 15th, 1955 in Baton Rouge, into a big and loving family where he was the middle child who often acted like the only child due to age gaps and later took on more of a big brother role to his younger siblings. He had a determined spirit and often had his own way of doing things, which generally meant to do them right but also quickly. He brought his own perspective which often resulted in him pointing out amusing things or sharing jokes. He had stories for days and enjoyed chatting with all people.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Iris Courtney Bankston, his children, Kelly Lynn Bankston, husband John, and Cody Wayne Bankston, his grandchildren, Madison Bankston and Case Bankston, his brother and sister, Kenneth Ray Bankston, wife Louise, and Linda Bankston Bennett, husband Bruce, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who he all loved.

It brings us comfort to know that he is in Heaven with his parents, Ernest “Bill” Bankston and Evelyn Estelle Bankston and his brothers Ernest Ronald Bankston and David Lamar Bankston.

Terry was born and raised in Livingston, Louisiana. He became an Eagle Scout in 1971, a graduate of Doyle High in 1973, and attended college at Southeastern Louisiana University. He was a hard worker who was fortunate to retire from Exxon early and begin enjoying the things he liked to do most. He later moved to Texas with Iris (close to several lakes) to be closer to their children, and as he put it “to fish in his retirement”. Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. We will all miss our porch coffee-time, fishing trips, hunting trips, sharing inside jokes, spending time together enjoying life and each other. We love you and can’t wait to see you again.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Seale Funeral Home, in Livingston, LA, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 1:00 PM until the memorial service at 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
