Thomas Wayne Berry, beloved husband and father, passed away on April 26, 2026, at the age of 82. He was born on July 12, 1943, in Hamilton, Mississippi.
Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for eight years. Following his military service, he dedicated 26 years to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, where he faithfully served his community with honor and commitment. He retired as Fire Prevention Chief at the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
Outside of his career, Thomas found great joy in the outdoors. He loved spending his free time fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 ½ years, Kathy Berry; and his daughter, Shannon Berry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Jettie Berry; his brother, George Berry; and his sisters, Vivian Benefiel and Ila Dean Lackie.
A visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, 1720 S. Range Ave., Denham Springs, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the memorial service starting at 11:30 AM, officiated by Brother Carl Sullivan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Baton Rouge, Rudy Robinson, and Al Comeaux for all of their care, compassion, and support during this time.
Thomas will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country and community, and the kindness and strength he shared with those who knew and loved him.
