Thomas Harris St. Amant II, born September 3, 1942, passed away on July 13, 2026 at age 83. Although south Louisiana was where he called home for most of his life, he spent many of his early career years traveling the country as an airman in the United States Air Force. Denver, Langley, and Panama City were just a few of the cities he and his wife, Jane, lived and had kids before settling back down in Baton Rouge for his post military life in 1972. It was here that he would raise his family of five and launch a new career in the field of medical x-ray machines. Soon, Tom, as he was affectionately called by many in the medical field, was once again traveling regionally to install, service, and repair high-tech x-ray equipment in hospitals both large and small. X-ray, along with his family, was his passion. Although he was born an only child, Jane was the oldest of nine, and he went from being an only child to having numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. For the next 60 years, he and Jane would watch their three kids get married, have kids of their own, and then their kids’ kids grow up and have kids. T.H. indeed lived life surrounded by family that grew and grew. His family was his passion.
T.H. is survived by daughters Alice Regina Didier (J.W.), Diana Lynn Lawson (Kevin), and son Thomas Harris St. Amant III (Nancy); grandchildren Sunny Didier, Summer Reed (Cameron), Audrey Tucker (Dawson), Olivia LeBlanc (Preston), Jonathan Cramer, Christian Lawson (Deanne), Kelsey Rogers (Sawyer), Victoria Kieffer (Joey), and Ava St. Amant; great grandchildren Samuel Tucker, Livie Kate Tucker, Silas Tucker, Adaley Lawson, Acey Lawson, Waylon Rogers, Lawson Rogers, Maverick LeBlanc, Dean LeBlanc, Finan LeBlanc, Paloma Kieffer, and Jonah Kieffer; sisters Dorothy Keesing (Arthur), Geraldine Young , Marie Starns (Gary), Catherine Walker (Charles), and Sandi Tourere; brothers, Bernie “BJ” Tourere, Jr., Henry Tourere, and Elias Ackal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
T.H. is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Tourere St. Amant; his parents, T.H. and Alice St.Amant; sister, Joanne “Tinnie” Tourere Ackal , Russell Young, Brenda Tourere, John “Tiny” Paul Tourere Sr. and Judy Tourere.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Harvest Manor Rehab.
