Virginia Lee “Weezer” Bailey, passed away on December 16, 2025. She was born on November 16, 1942, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to John Collins Bailey, Jr. and Josephine Elizabeth Broussard Bailey. She retired from the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, where she was a teacher for many years. She taught at the Louisiana Speech and Hearing Foundation and at the Louisiana School for the Deaf. She was a member of the Louisiana Calligraphers’ Guild. She was well known for her china painting, the mural on the previous Brunets Restaurant and her time at Ronnie’s Flower Shop, along with her calligraphy work.

Weezer is survived by her daughter, Kelly J. Allen; grandchildren, Charlie Junker (Kameron) and Jayda Bailey; great grandchildren, Jase Junker and Kyler Junker; daughter in law, Stacy Junker; siblings, John Collins Bailey, III “Johnny” (Yamirca), and Roger Bailey (Gwen); along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Weezer is preceded in death by her parents, John Collins Bailey, Jr. and Josephine Elizabeth Broussard Bailey; son, Michael Sean Junker; grandson, Evan Sean Junker; brother, David Keith Bailey; and son in law, (The one who gave her the name Weezer) Gregory “Goo” Allen.

A special thanks to Dr. Ryan Andress and the whole staff of the Woodleigh of Baton Rouge for their care given to Weezer. The support from my Nana - Carolyn Winstead and Lainee Bailey, we could not have done this without you.
