Listen to Obituary

Wanda June Moore Crawford, age 85, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 9, 2026. After 85 years of life filled with love, faith, service, and devotion to those around her, Wanda entered her eternal home, where she is now reunited with loved ones who went before her and resting in the loving arms of her Lord.

Mrs. Wanda was a devoted member of Abundant Life Church and had been a beloved resident of the Denham Springs-Baton Rouge area for 63 years. It was there that she and her late husband, James, built their life together and lovingly raised their two children. Her faith was woven into every part of her life, and she found great joy in serving others and sharing the love of Christ through the kindness she showed each day.

Wanda was a selfless and compassionate nurse who spent countless days caring for others. Her heart was always drawn toward those who needed a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply someone who cared. She later retired as a social worker from Harvest Manor, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and service to her community.

When she wasn't caring for others, Wanda found happiness in the simple blessings of life. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, but her greatest joy was found in her family. Of all the titles she carried throughout her life, being a mother and grandmother was the one she treasured most. Her greatest activity was simply loving her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and her beloved fur baby, Gracie. Her family was her heart, and the love she gave them will continue to live on through every generation.

Wanda leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, and selflessness. She is survived by her loving daughter, Stella “Renee” Ballard and her husband, Jimmie Ballard; three grandchildren, Jimmie Ballard, Jr., Jeremy Ballard, and Tyler Crawford; one great-grandchild, Michael Ballard; and numerous extended family members and dear friends who were blessed to know and love her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James H. Crawford; her parents, Ezra and Clara Edwards; her son, Jimmy Crawford; one grandson: Timothy Ballard, and ten siblings.

Though her family grieves the earthly loss of a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, they find comfort in knowing that Wanda's faith has become sight. She is no longer weary, no longer hurting, and no longer bound by the cares of this world. She has gone home to the Lord she loved and faithfully served, and one day, by God's grace, those who love her will see her again.
