William Brooks Gully, 89 years old, a resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana passed away on October 31, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 17, 1935 to Opal Milling Gully and Retus Melvin Gully in Philadelphia, Mississippi. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Denham Springs. He was a graduate of Denham Springs High School; he worked and retired from Gulf States Utility/Entergy after 30 plus years. He proudly served in the United States Navy. He loved watching LSU sports and traveling. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.
William is survived by children, Jeff Gully (Kelly) and Sonya Stevens; grandchildren, Blake Gully, Justin Stevens (Jennifer), Jacob Stevens (Jessica), Meghann Stevens (Justin), and Brooke Sonnier (Jordan); great grandchildren, Brenton Stevens, Kyla Stevens, Addie Stevens, Levi Stevens, and Mason Sonnier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
William is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Sarah Pope Gully; parents, Retus and Opal Gully; and sisters, Celeste Callender and Helen Bradshaw.
Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Gully, Justin Stevens, Jacob Stevens, Justin Orban, Jordan Sonnier, and Brenton Stevens. Honorary pallbearer will be Jimmy Martin.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family on November 3, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Denham Springs with a visitation from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will resume on November 4, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Denham Springs from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Graveside service and burial will be at Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery.
